Virginia Giovinco Sardegna Albano, 93, of Tampa, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 22, 2009. Virginia was born on June 6, 1915 to the late Gaetano and Alfonsina (Ferrante) Giovinco. "Nana Genia", a small business owner for the majority of her life, will best be remembered for her strength, work ethic, homemade Italian pizza at every holiday, and the unconditional love she showered on her family and others. Predeceased by loving husbands Jack Sardegna and Philip Albano; sister Julia Hollars Williams; and son-in-law Ralph Amor, she is survived by her cherished brother Joseph Giovinco, M.D.; beloved children Rosemary Amor and Carl T. (Josie) Sardegna; devoted grandchildren Rosalind (Tom) Daigneault, Jack (Cindy) Amor, and Jack T. (Kim) Sardegna; great-grandchildren Andrea and Melissa Daigneault, Robbie and Jennifer Amor, and Angelo and Dominic Sardegna; stepsons Peter (Norma) and Bennie (Corrine) Albano and their families. Pallbearers include Jack and Robbie Amor, Jack T. Sardegna, Tom Daigneault, Ian Giovinco, and Kenneth Albano. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11am Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where the Wake Rite will be said at 11:00. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
