Sylvia Stoun Gertzman, a native Tampan, passed away April 17, 2008 at the age of 93. Sylvia was a graduate of Hillsborough High School and the Business University of Tampa. She taught at the Business University of Tampa, worked as a movie booking agent in Cincinnati, OH, accompanied on the piano Rosemary Clooney and other singers of that era at WLW Radio in Cincinnati, and worked with her husband Milton in operating the Central Style Shop in Tampa until 1967. After returning to Tampa, she embarked on her many years of service to the Jewish community through Haddasah, Sisterhood, and other organizations, and was a founding volunteer at the Jewish Towers, where she served for more than 30 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Milton S. Gertzman; her parents, Charles and Yetta Stoun, pioneer Tampa residents; and a brother, Lt. Col. Meyer J. Stoun. Survivors include her children, Stephen and his wife Alice of Bethesda, MD, and Sharon McMorris and her husband Mac, of Plantation, FL; four grandchildren, Trey and Brian McMorris, Casey and Lauren Gertzman; three great grandchildren, Kayla, Logan, and Lila McMorris; her sister, Mildred Brown, Philadelphia, PA, and her brother, Dan Stoun, Sarasota, FL. Funeral will be private. No visitation. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may make contributions to the charity of their choice.
