Steven Lawrence Marcus

MARCUS, Steven Lawrence PhD, age 76, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on February 3, 2022.  He was proudly born in Miami Beach, Florida. He met his wife Rocky (Roxanna) while they were at school in Gainesville. From Gainesville, they moved to New York briefly before returning to Tampa where he earned his Master’s degree at USF. Then they moved to Athens, Georgia, where he completed his PhD before returning to Tampa over 42 years ago to start his lifelong career as a clinical psychologist. Steve enjoyed weight lifting and tennis and made strong friendships through these passions. He spent much of his time over the years training his German shepherds. The most important part of his life was his family. In Tampa, he leaves behind his wife and partner Rocky, his daughter Rachel, his son-in-law Hugh Culbreath IV, and his beloved companions Anja and Abby. He is also survived by his sister Lynette Spavin, niece Shana Bruegman (her husband Joshua and their children Grayson and Vivienne Vail), and his nephews Jason Spavin and Josh Spavin. Many loved family members remain in New York. He outlived his father Raymond Marcus, his mother Vivian Marcus Silverman, and his stepfather Herb Silverman.

A graveside service will be held at Hopewell Church Cemetery, 3872 Roland Street, Tampa FL 33609 at 2PM February 6^th.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Steve’s honor to Academy Prep of St Petersburg or Congregation Rodeph Shalom.
