Stephen Alan Bennett, 74, of Wesley Chapel, Florida passed away on March 24, 2025.
Stephen was born on August 24, 1950 and is the son of Ruth Rutkin Bennett and Earle Bennett.
Stephen grew up attending Rodeph Sholom Synagogue on Bayshore Boulevard. After graduating from Plant High School, he continued on towards a bachelor’s degree in accounting at the University of South Florida, was a CPA, and obtained a law degree from Florida State University and an LLM in taxation at the University of Florida, where, after having the highest scores in his LLM class, he was asked to teach the following year at the University of Florida Law School. He returned to the Tampa Bay area after teaching at the law school, where he practiced business and tax law for many years.
Steve was an avid football fan and Formula 1 racing fan. From 1967 until this past year, he never missed a race at Sebring. Attending the 2021 Super Bowl where the Bucs were victorious was one of his favorite memories since he had been a Bucs fan since the beginning.
His greatest love was for his daughter Sara. He devoted his later years to helping and guiding Sara. They were inseparable.
Steve is survived by his daughter Sara and his sister Susan.
A graveside service will take place Friday, March 28th, 11 am at Schaarai Zedek Cemetery.
