MAISLER, Sofia Desiree Temel, age 59 of Tampa, died Saturday, April 18, 2015. Mrs. Maisler was born in Bogata, Columbia, grew up in Miami and came to the Tampa Bay area in 2006 from Dayton, Ohio. She graduated from the University of Florida and earned her MSW at Wurtzweiler School of Social Work at Yeshiva University. She was the Director of senior programming at Tampa Jewish Family Services and a member of Congregation Kol Ami. Sofia was dedicated to her loving family and was a caring professional in her role in social services. Her dedication extended beyond that defined in text books making a difference to those she served. Survivors include her beloved husband of over 36 years Jay, her mother, Hanna Temel of Davie, FL, daughter, Rachel Maisler of Washington DC, sons, Brian Maisler of Rosamond, CA and Aaron Maisler of Tampa, brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles & Judy Temel of New York, NY, George Temel of Plantation, FL, and David & Cory Temel of West Palm Beach, FL along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held today (Monday), 2:00 PM at Congregation Kol Ami, 3919 Moran Road, Tampa. Interment will follow at Gan Shalom Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC or MAZON.
