Simon Dingfelder - Community Leader

DINGFELDER, Simon L. "Si" of Tampa passed away Monday, November 25, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Si was a proud native Floridian, Eagle Scout, served proudly as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army and was the owner of Garden Gold Foods. He was an active member and past president of the Downtown Rotary Club, member and past president of Congregation Schaarai Zedek, YMCA board member, and was a nationally recognized dog breeder of champion Standard Poodles at Bay Breeze Kennels. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was loved greatly and will be missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his children, Jan Bush (Bill), Bill  Dingfelder (Laura), John Dingfelder (Lynn), and Allen Johnson (Sharon), grandchildren; Kate D. Saladino (Ron), Sadie Dingfelder (Steve), Lisa Bloomquist (Mark), Hilary Kratz (Louis), Saul Dingfelder (Katharine), Christopher Humpherys and Daniel Cohn, great-grandchildren; Alexa, Justin, Jack, Juliette, Lila, Ari, nieces; Julia C. Portnoy and Elizabeth Corey, nephews; Seth Corey and Josh Corey, wife #1; Adele Brawer Baydin, wife #2; Sandra B. Gray, and wife #3; Martha Harrison. Si is predeceased by his parents, Julius & Gertrude Dingfelder and sister, Margaret Corey. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, 4:00 PM at Congregation Schaarai Zedek, 3303 West Swann Avenue, Tampa with a reception to follow. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Rotary Camp Florida or The Humane Society of Tampa.
