Seymour Saks

Seymour Saks, 98, passed peacefully November 16, 2015 at his home in Tampa. He was born to Morris and Sarah Saks on September 10, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois. He was the oldest of four siblings. A WWII veteran, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942 and served as a sergeant. Seymour was the proud proprietor of Saks Pharmacy in Chicago from 1948 to 1972. He was a devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Upon moving to Tampa in 1984 he become a role model and caretaker to his two grandsons, Eric and Josh. Seymour is survived by his wife of 73 years, Charlotte Shapiro Saks. He is also survived by his siblings, Howard Saks and Sylvia Cucher, children, Dr. Bonnie Saks and Randy Saks, grandchildren, Eric and Josh Maltzer and David and Jessica Minnen, and great-granddaughter, Leila Maltzer. Interment was held at Shalom Memorial in Arlington Heights, Friday, November 27th, there will be a memorial service celebrating Seymour's life at 11:00 AM at Schaarai Zedek Synagogue. All are welcome to attend.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Horizon Bay Staff Holiday Fund at 800 W. Azeele Street Tampa, FL 33609, or to a charity of your choice.
