Sarah Evelyn Slohn

Sarah Slohn, 86 of Tampa, passed away on December 19, 2024. She grew up in Jersey City, NJ and moved to Tampa, FL in 1958 after marrying Herbert Slohn and graduating from Columbia University as a physical therapist. Sarah was the first physical therapist at the fledgling University Community Hospital where over the course of 30 years she developed and managed the combined physical, speech and occupational therapy depts as well as building out their free standing rehab facility from scratch. During this time, she also raised 2 kids and completed her masters degree in Healthcare administration. 

She loved to travel the world and was always active whether playing softball on the hospital team, doing yard work, painting her own house, or biking, deep sea fishing and sailing. 

She is preceded in her death by her parents Anne and Abraham Herman, her husband Herbert Slohn (who died in 1986), her second husband Lou Oberne, and her brother Sammy. Sarah is survived by her sister Mimi, sons Adam (Vicki) and Jason (Janine) Slohn, stepdaughter Debbie Oberne, and her grandchildren Hayley, Carly, and Ryan.

A graveside service will take place Sun, December 22, 10:00 am at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park in Tampa. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Research.
