Salomon "Sal" Wainberg, age 75 of Tampa died Wednesday, February 22, 2012. Mr. Wainberg was born in Poland, lived in Costa Rica for over a decade, moved to Miami, where he resided for over 40 years before coming to Tampa 13 years ago. He was a CPA and was senior partner of the former, Spicer & Oppenheim accounting firm. He was a Holocaust survivor and was a survivor speaker for the Florida Holocaust Museum, a member of Congregation Rodeph Sholom, Congregation Kol Ami and was among the founders of Gan Shalom Cemetery. Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Sandra "Sandy", son, Andrew Wainberg, daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Robyn & Noah Jacobson all of Tampa, brothers, Alan "Abraham" Wainberg (Roz Lewy) of Palm Beach Gardens and Bernard Wainberg and wife, Ilana of Miami, sister, Sara Benson and husband Sol of Miami Beach and Jerusalem, Israel and grandchildren, Marlin, Laney & Sadie Jacobson along with numerous family members and friends in Miami, Costa Rica and Israel. Graveside services will be held today (Friday), and begin promptly at 1:00 PM at Gan Shalom Cemetery, Tampa. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hillel Academy, 2020 West Fletcher Avenue, Tampa, FL 33618 or to the charity of one's choice.
