Ruth Edelman

EDELMAN R. Ruth, July 3, 1922 - May 25, 2013. A beloved mother and sister, has passed away. A native of Baltimore, MD, Ruth received her R.N. from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1944 and her B.S. from Queens College in 1948. She later attended UNC-CH, receiving her Certificate in Public Health in 1951. Ruth served as a 2nd Lt. in the Army Nurse Corps from 1945-1946, in Tennessee and at the Don Cesar Convalescent Hospital in Tampa, Florida. In Charlotte, Ruth spent the bulk of her career as a nurse at Mercy Hospital. One of Ruth's greatest pleasures was reading and she also enjoyed knitting, crochet, cross-stitch and sewing. Ruth was a devoted Catholic and long-time member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. Ruth is survived by her sister, Mary Threatt, and her four children, Samuel Edelman, Susie Edelman, Becky Ford, and Stacey Flur.
