Ruth Meyerson Brok, 89, passed away February 19, 2010, in Tampa, where she resided for the last four years. She was the beloved widow of Ralph Brok. Born August 26, 1920 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Solomon and Gittle Meyerson. She graduated from Battin High School in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Also, she was a graduate of the Guggenheim School of Dental Hygiene. She was a dental hygienist for Dr. Gross in Brooklyn, New York. In later years she worked for Flemington Outlet Stores. She was one of the founding members of B'Nai Brith House, Reading, PA. She was a member of Temple Oheb Sholom, Wyomissing, PA. She is survived by her children, sister and grandchildren. Daughter, Cynthia Land, is a special education teacher at Grady Elementary in Tampa. Her husband, Eric Land, is President/CEO of Walkabout Air, Inc., and is the former COO of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Her son, Jeffrey Brok is branch manager of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney of Ormond Beach, FL. His wife, Jill, is a DRX Technician. Her son, Richard Brok, is an attorney with Choice Council in Pittsburgh. His wife, Susan, is a head start teacher at Allegheny Intermediate Unit of Pittsburgh. Also surviving is her sister, Selma, wife of Herbert Shapiro, of Beach Haven, NJ. There are 7 grandchildren. Garrett Land is an attorney in Boston, MA, associated with Wilson, Eiser, Moskowitz, Edelman, Dicker. Jordan Land is on the faculty of Southwest Florida College and teaches criminal justice. Jeremy Brok is Director of Recruitment for AmeriCorps in St. Louis, MO. Adam Brok is a student at DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. Emily Brok is a student at University of Pittsburgh in Johnstown. Connor Brok is a student at Hinson Middle School. Erica Brok is a student at Pine Trail Elementary. She was predeceased in death by her sister, Beatrice Sandler. Services will be held at 1:30 on Monday, February 22, 2010 at Temple Oheb Sholom, Wyomissing, PA, with Rabbi Brian Michelson officiating. Burial will be at Mount Sinai Cemetery, Shillington, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to B'Nai Brith House, Reading, PA.
