Robert Lindstrom

Robert Reynolds Lindstrom, 79 of Tarpon Springs, FL, peacefully passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on May 16, 1943 to Elmer Reynolds Lindstrom and Ruth Reynolds in Mobile, Alabama, then following Elmer’s Navy career, to Nashville, Tennessee, then to Chicago, Illinois. He received a Bachelors Degree in Economics from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Bob enlisted into the US Navy as a corpsman June 29th 1964 to January 24th 1967. Bob was wounded when saving the life of a fellow marine by stepping on a landmine. As a medic came for Bob, and was going to give him morphine, my dad told the medic to "take it out and give to someone else." That was just who he was, always helping someone else. He Received a Purple Heart and an Honorable Discharge from the Navy. On August 26, 1967, he married his love, Janis Lillian Rietow. They spent 54 lovely years together. They loved camping, driving, taking shortcuts on roads to find new places, old battle forts, and traveling in general to gain new information. He could tell you what road to take if you were lost, strictly by memory. Bob was a member of many clubs and organizations, including the follow: M.O.C (cootie member) 67 HO-tai Illinois, Life Member at VFW post 4308 Lake Villa, VFW life member of post 7987, Life member and Post commander of VFW post 1100 and member of the Playboy club of Chicago. He always kept busy, whether it was volunteering his time at Brooke Creek Preserve, working almost 40 years for United Airlines, trade driving for Ferman and church choir at Lutheran Church of the Palms. He is preceded in death by his parents Elmer Reynolds and Eura Ruth Lindstrom and sister Betty Ann Gardner. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 55 years Janis Lillian Rietow Lindstrom and children Richard (Katie) and William (Kristin) Lindstrom. He is also survived by his treasured grandchildren; Richard's children Gavin and Ivy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Church of Palms, or a charity of ones choice.
