Robert Lewis Kleiman, 79, of Tampa Florida, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024. Born on October 15, 1945, in Syracuse, New York, Robert lived a full and meaningful life defined by resilience, dedication, and an unwavering love for his family.
Robert attended the College of William & Mary before serving his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he embarked on a successful career in telecommunications, specializing in high-end phone systems for cruise ships, hotels, and large corporations. His warm demeanor and exceptional ability to connect with people earned him lifelong friendships and professional success.
A devoted father, Robert’s love for his children was boundless. He made countless sacrifices to ensure their happiness and well-being, often putting their needs above his own. Whether driving across Florida for his daughter’s softball tournaments or providing guidance and encouragement, Robert’s support was a constant in their lives. His grandchildren affectionately called him “Big Daddy,” and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Robert was also a man of simple pleasures. He enjoyed golf, music, and sharing a good scotch with friends. In his younger years, he was an avid golfer and tennis player, sharing these passions with his family. Music remained a significant part of his life, from playing drums in a jazz band to winning dance contest in his youth. Even in his later years, he found joy in singing along to oldies with his daughter.
Throughout his life, Robert demonstrated incredible resilience. He overcame numerous health challenges with remarkable strength and a positive outlook. His courage and determination were an inspiration to all who knew him.
Robert is survived by his daughter and son in law, Nicole and Yaron Benjamin; his son, David Kleiman; his beloved grandchildren, Eytan, Tomer, Oren and Noa Benjamin, and sister, Dena Oldham.
A private service will be held to honor Robert’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a Veterans assistance program, in memory of Robert.
