Robert J. Godsey, 66, resident of Clearwater, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2019. Bob was born in New Brunswick, NJ. He played basketball in high school and at Trenton State College. He played for the Washington Generals against the Harlem Globetrotters and the European Basketball League in the mid-70's. Robert coached basketball in New Jersey, Nebraska and Missouri and worked as a Teacher/Mentor at Boys Town (Omaha, NE), St. Francis Academy (Salina, KS) and other schools. He retired from teaching at Enterprise High School in Clearwater, FL last June. Robert is survived by his wife, Pola Godsey, his children, Austin (Lauren) Godsey, Cole Godsey, and Ned (Katie) Godsey, his brother, Vic (Lorrie) Godsey, and six nephews/nieces. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence 'Joe' and Ida Rose Godsey, and his sister, Mariafrancis (Lawrence) Markowitz. His family and friends are invited to a celebration of his life at 11 am, Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Cypress Meadows Community Church (2180 N. McMullen Booth Rd, Clearwater 33759)
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to Cypress Meadows Community Church, 2180 N. McMullen Booth Rd, Clearwater, Florida 33759 or Springs of Hope Kenya.
