Richard Fred Gerson, Ph. D., 56, of Tarpon Springs, died Monday, June 9, 2008. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he moved to Tampa in 1985 from Sunrise, FL. Survivors include his beloved wife of 27 years, Robbie Gerson; 2 sons, Michael Gerson and fiancAC. Jessica Tubolino and Mitchell Gerson, both of Tarpon Springs; his mother Faith Laudia and husband Richard Laudia of Lake Worth, FL; his father Mark Gerson of Coral Springs, FL; his brother Steven Gerson of Deerfield Beach, FL; and his dog, Angel. Dr. Gerson earned his Ph.D. in Sports Psychology from Florida State University in 1978, and was a Certified Management Consultant, international author, speaker, and trainer. He was an Adjunct Professor at the University of South Florida, as well as a university in Mexico. He was the author of over 400 articles and 25 books, including "Positive Performance Improvement, a Paradigm for Optimizing a Work Force", which he co-authored with his wife, Robbie. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 13, at the funeral home chapel of Trinity Memorial Gardens, 12609 Memorial Drive, New Port Richey, Florida with interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens. The family asks that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to the ALS Association, Florida Chapter, 3242 Parkside Center Circle, Tampa, FL 33619-0907 (813) 637-9000.
