Richard Leland Berg, 91, passed away on January 4, 2024, in Tampa, Florida. He is
survived by his sister, Madelyn Berg Rosenberg, his sons David Berg (deceased) and Joseph Berg. He had numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was a talented musician playing the French horn and was a graduate of the Juilliard School in New York City. He had an extensive music career including playing with Paul Anka’s band, playing first chair in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s original production of Cats, as well as numerous other Broadway productions. He played with Count Basie, Leslie Uggams, and Tony Bennett. He played in the original recording of “Times of your Life” for Kodak. He was a member of numerous National and International Symphony Orchestras/Philharmonics. He had an extensive military career as a US Army Sergeant playing in the National Army Band during the Vietnam war.
