age 97, passed peacefully on Feb. 26th. Daughter of Hyman and Bessie Jacobs, she was the youngest and last of four sisters (Goldie Schuster, Annabel Carson and Jean Miller) and one brother, Arnold Jacobs. Her Father, Hyman, a Hebrew scholar and merchant, arrived in the U.S. in 1911, and was a founder and the first permanent President of Congregation B'nai Israel in St. Petersburg. Renee graduated St. Petersburg High School in 1936 and attended St. Petersburg Junior College. She worked in New York City and was married to Larry Silverstein of New York City in 1961, until his death in 1991. Larry was a decorated veteran of WW II. She later worked at St. Petersburg Junior College, retiring after 18 years of service, and volunteered at Palms of Pasadena Hospital. She was a member of Congregation B'nai Israel and was active in Hadassah and ORT. She is survived by many nieces and nephews in St. Petersburg and Tampa.
