SUNDHEIM, Rabbi Frank N., age 81 of Tampa died Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Rabbi Sundheim was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.He graduated the University of Pennsylvania in 1953, received his Master of Arts in Hebrew Letters from the Hebrew Union College- Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1958 and was ordained as a rabbi and was granted an honorary Doctor of Divinity by the Hebrew Union College- Jewish Institute of Religion. Rabbi Sundheim has been a beloved rabbinic leader in Florida since the mid 1960's having served congregations in Tampa (Congregation Schaarai Zedek 1966-1986), Spring Hill, Palm Harbor and Winter Haven. He served as the Regional Director of the Southeast Council of the Union for Reform Judaism in Miami for over ten years was a member of the Executive Committee of the Central Conference of American Rabbis and also serving the as president of NAORRR (National Organization of Retired Reform Rabbis), representative to the national board of the URJ and numerous local federation, ministerial and educational associations. He had a lifelong love of classical and religious music as a composer, director, cantorial soloist and musician. He lectured on classical music in the LIR program at the University of South Florida and was an avid sportsman, nature walker and reader. A true "Renaissance Man". Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Adrianne, son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan & Shelley Sundheim of Oviedo,FL, daughters and sons-in-law, Betsy & Gil Singer of Tampa and Sara & John Dean of Atlanta, grandchildren, Joshua and his wife, Alison Sundheim, Adam Sundheim, Daniel Singer, Zachary Singer and Samuel Dean and his brother, Richard Sundheim of Philadelphia, PA. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 27th, 3:00 PM at Congregation Schaarai Zedek, 3303 W. Swann Avenue, Tampa. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Schaarai Zedek,or the NAORRR, C/O Rabbi Kenneth Weiss, 50 Freedom Hollow #304, Salem, MA 01970 or Temple Beth Shalom, P.O. Box 313, Winter Haven, FL 33882.
