Phyllis Borell, 99, of Tampa, FL, died on June 23, 2022. She died peacefully in her home in Tampa, Florida, surrounded by her loving children and their spouses. In the 99 1/2 years of her long and fulfilling life, she gave and earned an immeasurable amount of love and respect from everyone who knew her - as a wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, cousin, friend and companion. She met and married her husband, David Borell, in 1945 with whom she lived happily for 49 years. Together they created a family bonded by love and laughter. She worked as a legal secretary most of her life to provide a better life and education for her children and treats for her beloved cocker spaniel Muffet.
She and David started their family in Brooklyn and they continued to raise their three children, Marjorie, Jeffrey and Marty in East Meadow, Long Island, NY where they lived for over thirty years. She enjoyed her senior years living in Florida, first on the East coast, then on the West, in Tampa, near her son Marty and his wife Janie who looked after her every need.
At the age of 82, she achieved something she always wanted- her Bat Mitzvah. She went to Hebrew School and learned the prayers and rituals to achieve one of her lifelong dreams.
She was also blessed with a loving and large family by birth and by marriage. She is survived by her three children, Marjorie, Jeffrey and his wife Cindy and Marty and his wife Janie; her eight grandchildren and their spouses: Alexander Carestia and wife Margaret, Joshua Borell, Zachary Borell and wife Shira, Devora Hollander and husband Dovi, Jonathan Borell and wife Emily, Stacy Borell (of blessed memory), Erik Fischer and wife Melanie, and Carly Fischer, and her 14 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Stacy's Place at A Kids Place,1715 Lithia Pinecrest Rd, Brandon, FL 33511 (designate the Stacy Borell fund.) https://give.akidsplacetb.org/BorellFamily Or to the charity of your choice.
