Myrna Starr, 87, of Tampa, FL, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2024. Born on November 16, 1936, in Brooklyn, NY, Myrna led a vibrant life marked by love, creativity, and joy.
Myrna’s life journey began in Brooklyn, where she met and fell deeply in love with Jesse Starr. Their 63-year marriage was a testament to their enduring affection and partnership. Together, they raised two devoted sons, Mitchell and Andy Starr, and celebrated the joys of family life, including the delight of being grandparents to Sarah, Alex, and Ben.
A passionate artist and craftswoman, Myrna found immense joy in sewing, sculpting handcrafts, and needlepoint. Her artistic spirit was matched by her love for a good joke, shopping, and preparing delicious meals that brought her family together. Myrna’s home was always a haven of warmth and hospitality.
In retirement, Myrna and Jesse relocated to Tampa, FL, where they embraced an active lifestyle, enjoying golf, tennis, and precious time with family and friends. Myrna’s infectious laughter and creative spirit brightened the lives of those around her.
Myrna is survived by her loving sons, Mitchell and Andy, her daughter-in-laws Myrna and Louann, and her cherished grandchildren, Sarah, Alex, Ben, Mary Kate, Kyle, and Erin. She will be remembered for her boundless love, artistic talents, and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
A celebration of Myrna’s life will be held at Segal Funeral home in Tampa Florida on 7/30/2024, at 6:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to a Byrd Alzheimer’s Center and Research Institute.
Myrna’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, and her legacy of creativity and kindness will be cherished forever.
