Mildred G. Fiegel

The Fiegel family announces with great sorrow, the passing of their Mother, Mildred G Fiegel at age 108. She passed peacefully after complications from a fall. Mildred was a much loved Elementary School teacher in Monroe, CT. She was honored by the Town of Monroe upon her retirement with a proclamation naming a day for her. She graduated from Hunter College in Manhattan with a BA and from Columbia Teachers College with a Masters in Education. She began her educational career as a New York City school teacher. She was an early member of Hadassah and the Anti Defamation League. A great lover of music, she taught piano along with second and third grade for many years. Her life encompassed many historical  moments including two pandemics, two World Wars, the 19^th Amendment, giving women the right to vote, the founding of the UN, the founding of the State of Israel, the widespread use of automobiles, telephones, television, air travel and the computer age. She witnessed nineteen Presidents of the United States. She had a great sense of humor and made the very best apple pies.  She loved gardening and the theater but most of all she loved her four daughters, Miki (Elena), Shari, Donna and Bonnie along with her grandchildren Scott Morgen and Kathryn (Kadi) Picinich. She met her first great grandchild, Carter Morgen, this past year. She adored her sons in law James Picinich, Henry Stryder and David Morgen and her granddaughter in law Shannon Morgen.
