Madeleine "Maddy" Sterrer

STERRER, Madeleine “Maddy” Zelda, 81, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021. Maddy was born on March 1, 1940, in Manhattan, New York. She was the first of two children to Max and Beulah Stein. She was a loving sister to Susan Stein with whom she shared a lifetime bond of closeness and friendship. Maddy loved spending time with family, gardening, baking, the color blue, and playing cards with her friends. She even followed and learned to “somewhat” enjoy watching and talking sports as growing up in our family it really wasn’t an option. Mostly she loved taking care of her husband and watching her children grow to have families of their own.

Maddy was so grateful to have been able to move to Atlanta Georgia in her final years where she was able to spend time with youngest son Steven, his wife Eileen, and their two children. Prior to moving to Georgia she lived in Tampa Florida for 12 years, only a short distance from her son Jeff, his wife Michelle, her daughter Mindy, and her husband Paul, enjoying time with them and their families being a loving mom and grandmother. She is predeceased by her first husband Joel Yarish, and her second husband Allan Sterrer. She leaves behind three children; Mindy, Jeff, and Steven, six grandchildren; Joshua, Matthew, Samantha, Zachary, Kaitlyn, and Justin, one great-grandchild; Luca, and one more great-grandchild on the way which made her so very happy in her final days. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

A graveside service to be held at New Montefiore Cemetery on Thursday, August 19th, 2021 at 1:00 PM EST.
