Linda Rice

May 28, 1940 — June 23, 2024

Lutz

Intelligent, charming, and effortlessly chic, Linda Prentice Rice, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2024, in Tampa, FL, at the age of 84. She was born on May 28, 1940, in Brooklyn, NY to her late parents, Regina and Herbert Prentice, and was an adored sister and niece to her late brother David Prentice and Aunt Bebe and Uncle Bert Stern.

Linda was a proud alumna of Cornell University, where her passion for philanthropy blossomed. She was a founding member and active participant in the Great Neck Chapter of Hadassah. In 1971, Linda founded the Nursery School at Temple Beth El in Great Neck, NY, where she became a lifetime honorary trustee. In the early 2000s, Linda served as The Chapter President of Maccabi USA Sports for Israel. Her charitable spirit continued after she moved to Florida, where she volunteered as a docent at the Tampa Museum of Art and served on the board of Tampa Jewish Family Services.

Linda had an incredible eye and used her love and talent for photography to keep a treasured archive of her family and travels. She made friends of all ages everywhere she went. She filled her life with experiences all around the globe, many of which she shared with her children and grandchildren. If Linda was ever M.I.A., you could likely find her sipping coffee at a café in Paris or photographing the Big Five in Botswana.

Linda is survived by her loving family, her devoted children Wendy Rice, Michael (Audra) Rice, and Mitchell (Susie) Rice; and her cherished grandchildren, Jamie, Jacob, Sam, Nathan, Julie, and Alexandra. We celebrate the very full life of our mother and "Nana," her memory will continue to inspire, and her light will forever shine powerfully in the hearts of those who knew her. XXXOOO
