Lillian Gushin

Lillian Bernstein Gushin, 96, was born in Brooklyn, NY, but grew up and lived most of her life in Roselle, NJ. She moved to Palm Harbor, FL, in 1999. She was a graduate of Abraham Clark High School in Roselle, NJ and Kean University in Union, NJ where she earned both her B.A. and M.A. degrees in Education. A dedicated educator, Lillian taught in Kean Unversity's Special Demonstration School and in the Springfield, NJ, public school system where she served as Principal of the Caldwell School until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of Kappa Delta Alpha honorary education society, a life member and past president of Hadassah, and was a member of and served on the board of Temple Beth El Mekor Chayim in Cranford, NJ. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in law, Laura and Dr. Darrell Fasching, and Margo and Alan Sokolow; and her granddaughters, Rachel Sokolow and Elena Kaufmann. Graveside services will be held today, (Monday) 1:00 PM at Gan Shalom Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hadassah.
