STONE, Leon, age 98 of Tampa died after a brief illness on January 30, 2014. Mr. Stone was born in Dayton, Ohio on November 12, 1915. He received both undergraduate and law degrees from Ohio State University and came to Tampa in 1946. He was a co-owner of Florida Cleaning Service and later built the TraveLodge at USF. Into his early 90s he worked actively as a business broker. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Phyllis. Survivors include, Bernice Ross, with whom he married in 1999 who has a son, Mark and daughter, Andrea, his sons, Stephen Stone of Orlando, Richard Stone of Maitland, daughter, Deborah Hess of Baltimore, MD, two grandchildren, Benjamin and Jennifer, six great grandchildren, and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. He was active and healthy until three weeks before his death. Services will be held Sunday, 1:00 PM at Segal Funeral Home, 3909 Henderson Boulevard, Tampa. Interment will follow at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park.
