TAWIL, Judith, age 78, of Tampa, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020. Judy was born in Scranton Pennsylvania to Edward and Sadie Berger. She was the second of four children. She completed one year at Barnard College in New York before leaving to marry the love of her life, Albert Tawil (not yet MD). In their first year of marriage, she worked at Cherry Hill hospital ER to support her husband. In 1963, they moved to St. Petersburg, Florida for Albert’s residency at Mound Park Hospital (now Bayfront). Shortly thereafter, they moved to Tampa and established a medical practice and a family. Judy completed her degree in political science at the University of Tampa in 1980, graduating magna cum laude. She was one of the founders and former President of Hillel School of Tampa, Hadassah president and an active member of Rodeph Sholom Synagogue for 58 years. She also engaged in statewide funding for Israel Bonds. Judy was the front office manager for her loving husband, Dr. Albert Tawil's Family Physician Practice for 40 years. Judy’s activities at home, at work and in the community allowed Dr. Tawil to concentrate on what he most enjoys – providing high quality medical care to his patients. She loved to read and watch foreign films. She was also a fabulous cook and entertainer. Her gatherings often included a poem that she had written as well as fine china and gourmet dining. Her greatest joy was being with her family and friends (some of 60 years!). She is survived by her loving family, including her beloved husband of 60 years, Dr. Albert Tawil, children Lisa Tawil (Rick Brown) of Tampa and Lee Tawil (Joanne Hoffer), of New York City. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Jacquelyn Tawil-Brown, Albert Tawil-Brown, Edward Tawil and Rosalee Tawil who will miss her greatly. Funeral services will be held Sunday March 15, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Rodeph Sholom Synagogue, in Tampa. Burial will immediately follow at Rodeph Sholom Cemetery, Tampa.
