Judith Louise Kartt Schwartz

Judith Louise Kartt Schwartz passed away unexpectedly on October 19th, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael, and parents, Florence and David Kartt. Judy, or Grammy, as she was fondly known, was born in New York, but spent much of her life in Tampa, Florida. She was a graduate of H.B. Plant High School in Tampa, followed by a bachelor’s degree in teaching from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Masters Degree in Child Psychology from the University of Central Florida. 

Judy and her husband Michael raised their 4 children in Tampa. She was very involved in their synagogue, Congregation Rodeph Sholom. Judy spent many hours in the kitchen with the Sisterhood, catering for Bar/Bat Mitzvah’s and many other special events. She started her adult life as a teacher, but put that on hold to raise her children and be a volunteer. She entered back into teaching at the age of 50, and spent 20 years in the profession that she loved, working at both her alma mater H.B. Plant High School and T.R. Robinson High School, before retiring. Her retirement years were filled by caring for husband and helping to transport her grandchildren to various activities. The last few years she wanted something more to do and started a business called Judy the Pet Nanny. She cared for her clients pets in their homes and also completed various chores from gardening to organizing. She enjoyed being needed and useful. Judy’s home was always open to anyone in need. Her generous heart and open arms have been passed on to her children and grandchildren. She became everyone’s Grammy. 

Judy is survived by her children, Bobby Schwartz, Dara Schwartz, Philip Schwartz and Laurie(Carl) Rohrs;grandchildren, Nathalie Springer, David Russ, Kaleb Rohrs, Mason Rohrs and Elliot Schwartz; brother Michael(Jan) Kartt; nephews Jonathan(Sandy) Kartt, Matthew(Emily) Kartt, Stephen(Leah) Kartt; several great nieces and nephews; All of the Schwartz and Denat cousins whom were more like brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews; her best-friends children Sam(Beth), Max and Emily Negin, their children; and many adopted children and grandchildren. 

Funeral services are set for this Tuesday, 10/22/24, 10:00 am at Congregation Rodeph Sholom, 2713 Bayshore Blvd Tampa, Fl 33629. Interment will follow in Orlando at Temple Israel, 9200 Morton Jones Rd. Orlando, Florida 34734. Family will gather at her granddaughter’s home after services and on Wednesday evening.
