Joseph William Munch, 78, a native of Saint Petersburg, Florida, and resident of Tampa, Florida passed away on May 1, 2024.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Siwon Munch; sons: Steven, Johnney and Randy; daughters in law Thao and Christina; grandchildren; Vivian, Adrianna, Joseph, Victoria, Ashlynn; great grandchildren; Clark and Alaina; and sisters Penny Reed and Maryann Champion
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarice Munch and Joseph A. Munch.
Joseph served 24 years in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam War Era Veteran. He retired in 1988 as a Master Sergeant E7 specializing in Technical Logistics, choosing to raise his children in Thailand before returning to his home here in Tampa Bay, Florida.
Joseph was a very private person who was witty, easy going and always positive. Most notable to anyone lucky enough to be in his company was that he was a soft, gentle soul who's super power was empathy. His ability to feel the sadness and suffering of others in order to try and relate to their situation was genuinely special.
Joseph was also selfless in every sense of the word, particularly with his loved ones. He cherished his family more than anything else. He adored his three sons and most of all his dear wife Siwon to whom he gave everything he had.
While he loved watching old western movies, specifically anything starring John Wayne, his most enjoyable moments were those where he was relaxing at home surrounded by his family and their families, along with a few close friends. Those were the moments he longed to have each and every day of his life.
Regardless of what he did or where he was, as long as the woman of his dreams, his loving wife and soulmate was with him, he was happy. And it truly was a blessing that she was there with him, right to the very end, to where he passed peacefully.
It's important to note that Joseph never had an upbringing where his father was present. So raising three very different boys was a challenge. He always wanted to be the father he never had, but what he never knew was that he was the greatest father that anyone could ever have.
We all will miss him so very dearly and will struggle each day without him but will never forget the bright light he was to each and every one of us in this life.
We love him so much! But we know it will never be as much as he loved us as he used to always say.....
Love you more....
A Visitation will be held in his honor on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 11:00 am at Segal Funeral Home, 3909 Henderson Blvd. Tampa, Florida 33629.
