Janet Stern

STERN, Janet, age 94, died Monday, January 13, 2014 in Tampa, Florida. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she lived in Silver Spring and Rockville, Maryland from 1950 until October, 2013. Janet spent her career as a teacher and speech therapist, primarily for the public schools in Montgomery County, Maryland. She was a co-president and woman of the year of National Council of Jewish Women and was active in play reading groups. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Irving. She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Faith and Sheldon Wind of Tampa, Florida and Barbara and Steven Clarke of Newtown Square, Pennsylvania; son and daughter-in-law, Richard Stern and Judith Yoder of Arlington, Virginia, grandchildren, Michelle and husband, Jonathan Edwards, David and Daniel Wind, Max, Cora and Nathaniel Stern; and great grandson, Declan Edwards. Funeral Services will be held at the Judean Memorial Gardens Chapel in Olney, Maryland on Sunday, January 19th at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to National Council of Jewish Women.
