Jan Lee Finer, 49, of Tampa, succumbed to ovarian cancer on Thursday, June 5, 2008 following a heroic 2-year battle. She was a 1980 graduate of Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, and a member of Congregation Schaarai Zedek, F.O.R.C.E. and OVACOME. Jan is survived by her devoted husband of 26 years, Michael; loving daughters Jessica and Hailey Finer her mother Alvina Shutan of Chicago; father-in-law Sidney Finer of Tampa; sisters Linda Lanson Fleisher and husband Adi of Boca Raton, and Lauren Sax of and husband Stuart of Islamorada, FL; sisters-in-law Barbee Kopp and husband Steven of Scottsdale, AZ, and Stacy Zeid and husband Leonard of St. Louis, MO; and several nieces and nephews. With optimism never faltering, she will be remembered in the hearts by all who knew her, for her brave and loving spirit. Graveside services will take place at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, June 8 at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, followed by a "celebration of life" service at 11:30 a.m. at Congregation Schaarai Zedek, 3303 West Swann Avenue, Tampa, with Rabbi Richard Birnholz officiating.
