October 29, 1952 — October 5, 2024

Jacqulyn Schuett

Jacqulyn Ruth Schuett peacefully transitioned on October 5, 2024 in St. Petersburg. She was surrounded by family and close friends during her last days. She is survived by her loving mother, Irene Schuett; her dear sister, Tersenia Schuett; her brother-in-law, Keith Wendt; and her many friends.

Born on October 29, 1952, in Watertown, Wisconsin, Jacqulyn showed an early passion for community service as an active member of the Lebanon Luckies 4-H. In high school she was a member of the National Honor Society and was crowned Prom Queen. Jacqulyn earned degrees from the University of Colorado and the University of St. Thomas, launching a 34-year career in program development and management for large events which focused on community education in the arts and sciences.

Since moving to Florida in 1992, she held management positions at the Mahaffey Theatre, the Pinellas Education Foundation, and the Institute for Strategic Policy Solutions at St. Petersburg College. Earlier in her career, she worked at The World Theater in St. Paul, MN, the National Endowment for the Arts in Washington, DC, and the Sun Valley Center for the Arts. Jacqulyn loved to be in the natural world, and in the 1970s, she served as a wilderness canoe guide at a YMCA Camp in Wisconsin and led adult backcountry trips into Glacier National Park.

A lifelong seeker, Jacqulyn traveled the world to connect with family roots, explore new cultures, and pursue spiritual growth. Among her international adventures was an around-the-world trip in 1975 with her sister, Tersenia. In later years, Jacqulyn journeyed to Vietnam, France and India on pilgrimage and spiritual retreats.

For the last 25 years, Jacqulyn wholeheartedly committed herself to meditation practice and selfless service at the Florida Community of Mindfulness. She continually nourished the community by her sincerity and trust in the Buddhist teachings and her teacher, Fred Eppsteiner; her beautiful chanting; her oversight of ceremonies; and the mentoring and leadership roles she held, including past President of the Board, Co-Chair of a capital campaign, and as a member of the Order of Interbeing.

Jacqulyn embraced every moment and expressed gratitude for life's beauty, the people she met, and the wonders of nature. She will be remembered for her gentleness and for being a non-judgmental listener, always making time to be present to the people in her life. Jacqulyn's radiance and lightheartedness brightened the spirits of everyone around her. She led a purposeful life, always striving to make the world a better place, which she certainly did. Jacqulyn was dearly loved, and she will always be with us in spirit and loving memory.

A service will take place for Jacqulyn on Tuesday, October 29, 11:00 am. The service will be livestreamed, please see the info below:

No Coming, No Going by Thich Nhat Hanh

No coming, no going
No after, no before
I hold you close to me.
I release you to be so free.
Because I am in you
And you are in me.
Because I am in you
And you are in me.
