BERNSTEIN, Isidore "Izzy", age 86 of Tampa died Wednesday, November 18, 2009. Mr Bernstein came to Tampa in 1949 from his native, Brooklyn, NY. He was a WWII veteran and a recipient of the "Purple Heart" for injuries he sustained during the Battle of the Philippines Sea. After the war he was among the first to import Japanese made sewing machines and goods to Tampa and owned a furniture store before getting licensed as a building contractor which he practiced for over 50 years. "Izzy" was an avid hunter and loved dogs. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Natalie. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Nancy Bernstein of Lutz, daughter, Sherry Ann Robertson of Lutz, grandchildren, Randy Robertson, Britt Robertson, Shaun Bernstein and Amanda Bernstein and great grandchildren, Colin Bernstein, Trenton Lane Robertson and Haley Robertson. Graveside services were held Thursday November 19, 2009 at Beth Israel Cemetery, Tampa. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center or Lifepath Hospice.
