Irma Perez

August 24, 1942 — February 2, 2022

Irma Perez

The world lost a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend on February 2, 2022. Irma Perez departed her loving family after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma and was at her home in Palm Harbor, surrounded by family and love. Irma is survived by her four adoring children Susanna, Katrina, Laura, and Cassandra, granddaughter Cristiana, brother Pedro, sister Xiomara, and stepmother Elsa. Irma is preceded in death by both parents and brother John.

Born in the Dominican Republic, to father Juan and mother Ana Mercedes, Irma moved to the United States when she was 9-years-old and grew up in New York City. As a young adult, she lived in the South and raised her children with unconditional love and devotion in Florida. Her professional life included managing her husband’s medical practice, bookkeeping, and being a homemaker. Continuing a love of reading and education, Irma received her teaching degree at the age of 47 in elementary education and spent her 30 year career giving joy and fun to her students in Florida and Nevada.

Irma had an incomparable love of life and enjoyed movies, music, laughing, dancing, musicals, theater, cooking, sports, and social gatherings. An avid lover of history, politics, news, current events, pop culture, and travel, her family had the great fortune of experiencing the world with her and collecting beautiful memories. This includes family vacations in North Carolina, road trips in Utah, exploring Hawaii, venturing on the Grand Canal in Venice, scenic weekends in Sedona, and seeing Madonna, Maroon 5, and Elton John in concert. Whether you knew her for 5 minutes or 15 years, the vivacious Irma positively impacted every person she met and wanted everyone to feel loved, that they had a friend for life, and like they always had a home.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life and memory at the Segal funeral home in Tampa, FL, at 2 pm on Tuesday, February 8, 2022. Per Irma’s wishes, a wake will be held after the service at The Pub Tampa Bay from 4:30 pm-6:30 pm. Flowers are appreciated or donations in Irma's name to the International Myeloma Foundation are also welcome.
