Riverview, Florida
Hugh Donald McChord was a man who lived life to the fullest. Born in Boston, MA on February 8, 1957, he embraced every moment with a sense of adventure, charisma, and an unparalleled sense of humor. He was a man of many talents, but his greatest gift was his ability to light up a room with his vibrant personality and kind heart.
Hugh had a passion for the visual arts, spending 25 years in the film industry as a videographer, actor, and Emmy-winning star. He played the lead role in the feature motion picture "Blood, Guts, Bullets and Octane," and won two Emmy awards for his work on "The Legal Edge". Despite his success, he was always humble and maintained his love for simplicity. He was a die-hard fan of all Boston sports teams and loved nothing more than to cheer for the Patriots, the Red Sox, the Celtics, and the Bruins. His love for Boston was parallel to his love for his family. His wife, Karine Collins, and their daughters, Jaz and Hannah, were his world.
Hugh, in his unique and infectious way, managed to befriend everyone he met. He lived in various cities from Boston, MA to Hermosa Beach, CA finally settling in Riverview, FL, but his charm and charisma made him feel at home wherever he went. Hugh was survived by his loving wife Karine, his mother Janet McChord, his children Jaz and Hannah, his brothers Steve (Lucy) McChord, Ken (Diane) McChord, his sister Jennifer (Mike) Feeney, and his in-laws Mike Feeney, Diane Zimmermann, and Lucy McChord. He was preceded in death by his father, Creighton McChord.
As we remember Hugh, let us celebrate his life and the joy he brought to all of us. In the words of Dr. Seuss, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." And indeed, we were all fortunate to have known and loved Hugh. Please feel free to share your memories, stories, and photographs of Hugh on his memorial page. It is through these shared moments that his spirit will continue to live on and inspire us. Live long and prosper.
There will be a Celebration of Life event scheduled for 1 pm on February 28th, 2026 at the Firehouse Cultural Center in Ruskin, FL.
