ABUZA, Henry, died Saturday, October 17, 2009. Henry was born in Hartford, CT. and lived in Vernon, CT where he was an active member of his community. In his last years he lived in West Hartford, CT and Longboat Key. He was involved in Democratic politics. He helped to establish the first Civil Rights commission in Vernon. He mentored a lot of young people who worked for him and helped them to learn skills that would benefit them in their future lives. He built apartments of innovative design and helped many people to live with dignity and grace. He was the catalyst for family gatherings. Family times were most important to him. Henry is survived by his wife, Florence (Robins) Abuza, two Abuza daughters, Barbara (Les) Hyman, Susan (Gautam) Ghosh, three Robins sons, Larry (Maria), Ron (Lora) and Jeffrey Robins, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Zack (Maizie) Abuza, brother-in-law, Daniel Alpert, five nieces and nephews and their children. Private services will be held.
