George Checkver

George J. Checkver, 87, of Tampa, died Monday, August 4, 2008. Preceded in death by his wife, Lottie, he is survived by a son Dr. Mitchell Checkver and his wife Marilyn; granddaughter Sabina Jacobs and husband Michael; grandson Adam Checkver; and a sister Ruth Wyler. Mr. Checkver was an Army Veteran, serving during WWII; a member of Congregation Rodeph Shalom; and a volunteer with the American Red Cross. Funeral services were private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hillel School of Tampa, 2020 W. Fletcher Ave., Tampa, Florida 33612.
