Gail Meyer

MEYER, Gail Francine, 73, of Tampa, passed away on August 29, 2021. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she was a miracle and legacy.  As a USF Bull dual MIS/Accounting degree graduate, Gail went back to college with her kids after many years of bookkeeping to achieve her goals.  She was a very dedicated mother who was very active in volunteering in her children’s schools including running the booster club/concessions for Leto HS. She spent close to 30 years sailing with her husband, Bill, at Davis Island Yacht Club on their Lightning and Coronado 25.  Through those years, many heard her voice on Thursday nights or Sunday races as she helped run race committee announcing results and many other regattas at DIYC.  She was also a member of the Dinghy Dames.  Once her children grew up and she retired, Gail had to remain active, as it was her nature.  She stayed busy serving on many boards as Treasurer or being a member of Las Damas de Arte, Schaarai Zedek Sisterhood, Hadassah, The Women’s Club, and Condo Associations.  She had a huge heart and was very giving to many charities and organizations including The Humane Society, SPCA, St. Jude, JCC, Congregation Schaarai Zedek, Blake High School, American Cancer Society and Congregation Rodelph Shalom.  She loved spending time with her family most, playing Mah Jong with her friends and adored her dog, Buddy. She is preceded in death by her parents, Seymour Brodlieb and Rebecca Kraft, and stepmother Leona Brodlieb. Gail is survived by her loving husband, Bill Meyer; daughter, Dana Heiferman (Jeremy Billiet); son, Jason Sussman (Michelle Sussman); step-daughter, Wendy Meyer; grandchildren, Alexa & Zachary Heiferman, Anna & Tyler Sussman, Kaylan Burnham (Will Burnham), and Aiden Meyer; sister, Eileen Eckstein; step-brother, Robert Craven (Barbara Craven) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will take place Friday, September 3, 1:30 PM at Congregation Schaarai Zedek, 3303 W. Swann Avenue in Tampa. Live-Stream Available.
