HOFFMAN, Elaine, 88, of Tampa, died on June 6, 2012. She was born in Brooklyn, NY and came to Tampa in the 1970s, after the death of her beloved husband, Joseph Hoffman. She loved the arts and worked for The Tampa Museum of Art and the Hillsborough Arts Council. She was also actively involved in community theatre. In 2003 Mrs. Hoffman relocated to Panama City before returning to Tampa in 2011. She loved to travel and had been to many places all over the world. She was an avid reader and loved doing difficult crossword puzzles. She embraced new experiences with a sense of humor and style that set her apart. She was a great cook with a creative flair for gracious homemaking/entertaining. Mrs. Hoffman was proud of her extensive volunteer work, including teaching English as a second language to many children and adults and she was a fierce supporter of the careers of her family. She was an outgoing person who loved animals and children and believed in the dignity and rights of all people. She is survived by her daughter, Elisabeth Reading (Anthony), son, Miles Hoffman (Susan), grandchildren, Wendy (Greg), Sarah (Luke), Eva, and Jillian, great-grandchildren, William, Caroline, Faye, and Leo, and godson, Richard Kelman (Patti). Graveside services were held Sunday, June 10, 2012 at 1:00 pm at The Mount Carmel Cemetery in Ridgewood, NY. A memorial service will be held at Congregation Schaarai Zedek on Friday June 15, 2012 at 1:00pm in Tampa, FL. Family will recieve friends for a reception following service. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
