Edythe B. Kessler passed away on December 2, 2014, a resident of
Weinberg Village in Tampa at age 104. She was born on June 15,
1910 in Fort Valley, Georgia. In 1935 she married Simon Kessler. She assisted her husband in operating Kessler's Department Store in Clermont successfully during World War II before moving to Tampa 70 years ago.
They were long time members of Congregation Schaarai Zedek. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 40 years, Simon and devoted daughter, Jean Nelligan.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly & Mel Fruit of Jacksonville, son, Martin Kessler, of Tampa, three grandchildren: Andrew Fruit (wife Julie) of
Tampa; Jim Nelligan (wife Joanne) of Wilkes Barre PA and Lori Fruit of New York City, NY; and four great grand children: Michael
and Sam Fruit and Ryan and Rachel Nelligan. A memorial Sevice will be held today, (Thursday) 2:30 PM at Congregation Schaarai Zedek, 3303 West Swann Avenue, Tampa. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to, Congregation Schaarai Zedek, Weinberg Village or the charity of ones choice.
