Edward Corwin

Corwin, Edward S. (Ted), 85, died on April 6. A native of New Jersey, he was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Lafayette College and also a graduate of Columbia Law School. He served in the Army Air Corps in the European Theater in World War 11, and was an attorney and a CPA in New Jersey. He came to Tampa in 1972 as Administrator of the Carlton Fields law firm, from which he retired in 1990. He served as co-chair, and then as President of the Gasparilla Sidewalk Art Festival. He also was on the Hillsborough County Public Art Committee, where he served 7 years as Chairman, and on the County Library Board. He was on the original board, and served as President of the USF Learning in Retirement program, and conducted a number of classes in that program. He was on the Board of the Hillsborough Head Start Community Foundation. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia; his son Thomas with the US Department of Education, and his spouse Carol, of Bethesda MD; his son Lawrence, a diplomat with the State Department; his daughter Elizabeth, also a diplomat with the State Department, and her spouse Anastasios; his granddaughter Sarah of Bethesda MD, his step-granddaughter Sophia of Athens Greece; and his sister Nancy Harris and her spouse Leonard of Convent Station, N.J. Memorial Service at Congregation Schaarai Zedek on Wednesday, April 9, at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to the Florida Orchestra, Bay Area Legal Services, Hillsborough County Head Start, Congregation Schaarai Zedek or the charity of your choice.
