Our beloved Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Niece, Cousin, and Dear Friend passed away peacefully at home with her Mama and sisters by her side. Her story began when “Baby Rob” met “Muff” in Kingston, Jamaica. Deborah was conceived in Love to father, Anthony McDonald-James, and mother, Maxine Richardson. At the tender age of 14, she migrated to the United States which became her home - from New York to Michigan to Florida where she will be laid to rest.
Deborah was an amazing woman who loved and cherished people, she gave of herself in service to her country and the many charities she supported with her time and donations. Debz, as she liked to be called, loved the arts and was an artist in her own right, she painted, knitted, and was a creative home designer. Debz served in the US military where she achieved several awards. She also studied Psychology, Human Services, History, and Writing to Bachelor degree level and she became a teacher in her later years.
The beauty and legacy of her death are that she will be fondly remembered. Debz will live on in the hearts and minds of her family and friends and all those whom she impacted in her interactions. Her journey on this earth was lived with purpose and poise. She expected little but had a heart that was big enough to include many and give even much more. As we share and hear stories of the good she did, her small acts of kindness, tiny gestures, a kind word, a helping hand, conversations that uplifted and inspired many, we recognized that we've lost so
much more than we even knew. Debz leaves behind Father, Leonard Anthony McDonald-James, Mother, Maxine Richardson (nee Grizzell), Sisters - Lorraine, Carla, Tonia, Cindy, Lorna and Sophia, Nieces, Nephews, Uncles, Aunts, Cousins and Friends.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Debz's life at a funeral service to be held on Friday, October 30th, 2020, at the Segal Funeral Home, 3909 Henderson Blvd, Tampa, FL 33629.
