David Hochberg

–

Tampa, Florida

David A. Hochberg, M.D., 61, of Tampa, passed away in a boating accident on August 8, 2026.

He is survived by the family he cherished: wife Lauri Silver Hochberg, son Benjamin Hochberg, and daughter Jacqueline Hochberg, all of Tampa; “the brothers” Michael (Anne), James (Pola) and Eric (Ali); brother-in-law Michael Silver (Robyn); nieces Madison and Savannah and nephews Simon, Jack and Ethan.

Born on September 29, 1964, in New York, NY, to Bernard and Jacqueline Hochberg, David was raised in Tampa. He graduated from Berkeley Preparatory School, Tulane University (B.A. 1987) and the University of Miami School of Medicine (M.D. 1995). After completing his residency training in Urology at Lenox Hill hospital in New York City, he returned to spend the last 25 years building a family and career with the love of his life, Lauri. In Tampa, he joined his father’s Urology practice, and then was one of the founding members of Florida Urology Partners. Like his dad, David was a gifted physician and accomplished surgeon, serving as Chief of Urology at St. Joseph’s Hospital for the past 15 years. He was passionate about his work and found great satisfaction in helping patients.

Charismatic and intuitive, David connected easily with everyone he met. He was always the most fun person in the room—warm, attentive, full of good humor and occasional mischief. He enjoyed all kinds of music, sports, food and drink, and travel. He was a loyal fan of the Bucs, Rays and Lightning, and an avid golfer at Palma Ceia. David’s side gig as songwriter and guitarist for the Little Kintner Boys, the band he formed with longtime friends, was a perfect outlet for his creativity and energy.

David was fully engaged and fully appreciative in every aspect of his life. What he loved most deeply was his family—Lauri, Ben and Jackie—his brothers Mike, Jim, Eric and Mike—his dear cousins in the U.S. and abroad—and his many, many friends. The shock and sorrow of his untimely passing will never diminish the gifts of love, joy and inspiration David shared with us all.

A memorial service will be held for David Hochberg on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 3:30pm EDT at the Congregation Schaarai Zedek, located at 3303 West Swann Avenue, Tampa, Florida, 33609.
