Charles Wesley Sokol died Monday February 8th, 2010. Charlie was born February 14th, 1928 in Jasper, Alabama, and moved to Miami, Florida in 1946. He worked for many years in his family's furniture business and then began a career in life insurance sales where he accomplished the Million Dollar Round Table as well as multiple other awards and accolades in the course of his 46 year career. Charlie loved people - all people. He never met a stranger. His greatest joy was to regale friends with stories and jokes, and to befriend those he met no matter where he encountered them. He loved his family and was very proud of his children and grandchildren. Charlie is survived by Judith Applestein, his wife and companion of 34 years, his wife of 23 years, Inez Sokol, his daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Daryl Olster, daughter Pamela Sokol, grandchildren Melissa, Lauren and Dylan and by his step-daughters, Amie Devero and Andrea Bivens. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, February 10th, at 1 PM, at Palm-Robarts Memorial Park at 170 Honore Avenue, Sarasota, FL. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital or to Tidewell Hospice of Port Charlotte Florida.
