PECKETT, Carol, age 83, of Tampa, died peacefully and suddenly at her home on July 6, 2007. Mrs. Peckett was born in New York but was a lifelong resident of Tampa. She was a teacher by profession but is best known for establishing the "Artists in the School" program for Hillsborough County Schools. This was her way of passing along her passion for the arts. She was a devoted member of Congregation Schaarai Zedek and was also a member of Tampa Jewish Federation. Carol was philanthropic and she was politically motivated directing much of her energy towards women's issues. She was always positive and compassionate and always full of gratitude for the fullness of her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Irvin. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Chet and Barbara Peckett of Orlando, daughters and sons-in- law, Adela and John Ingersoll of Denver, CO. and Cathy Peckett and Ray Gadd of Land O' Lakes, five grandchildren, Rachel Peterson and her husband Brian, Adam Ingersoll, Casey Meacham, Alison Peckett and Haley Peckett and her sister, Sylvia Zucker of Rockaway, NJ.. A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, at 10:00 A.M. at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park in Tampa. A memorial service will take place following the burial at 11:30 A.M. at Congregation Schaarai Zedek, 3303 West Swann Avenue, Tampa. Rabbi Richard Birnholz will officiate. The family will receive friends at 1:00 P.M. at a reception at the temple following the memorial service. Memorial Contributions may be made to Congregation Schaarai Zedek.
