Bernard "Bernie" Wolfe, age 84 of Tampa, died April 12, 2011 at his home. Mr. Wolfe came to Tampa in 1986 from his native New York. Bernie proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman during WWII. He obtained his Master's degree at Queens College and furthered his studies at NYU working towards his Doctorate. Bernie taught history at Russell Sage Middle School in Forest Hills, NY and continued teaching in Tampa at Hillsborough Community College. He was an avid historian, a member of the Jewish War Veterans Abe Aronovitz Post #373 and a member of Congregation Kol Ami. He also enjoyed his volunteer work at St. Joseph's Hospital, H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and the Tampa Visitors Bureau. Survivors include his loving wife of 54 A½ years, Cynthia Wolfe; sons and daughter-in-law Andrew Wolfe of Clearwater, Les and Ruth Wolfe of Newark, Delaware; daughter and son-in-law Randi Risman and John Wender of Alpharetta, Georgia; grandchildren Michael and Emily Wolfe and David and Alex Risman; and sisters Barbara Sokoloff and Ruth Bernstein. Funeral services will be held Thursday April 14, 2011 11:00 a.m. at Segal Funeral Home - Beth David Chapel, 3909 Henderson Blvd., Tampa with interment and military honors to follow at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, Clearwater. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center.
