Barry S. Schonwetter M.D.

SCHONWETTER, Barry S., 68, passed away on January 23, 2024. Barry was born on January 9, 1956 in Miami Beach, Florida, to Morris and Joyce Schonwetter. Barry grew up in North Miami Beach, Florida. He graduated from Duke University, magna cum laude in 1977 and then graduated from Medical School at the University of Florida in 1981. Barry completed his Pediatric Residency at Johns Hopkins and his Pediatric Neurology Fellowship at University of Pennsylvania. He was a skilled researcher who worked in private sector and academic settings including Massachusetts General Hospital. Barry lived his adult life in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Boston, Massachusetts. 
Barry is survived by his two siblings, Sondra Sussman (Dr. David) and Dr. Ronald Schonwetter (Rita), adored nephews and nieces, Adam Sussman, Gene Sussman (Sari), Sam Sussman, Dr. Melissa Sussman, Sara Schonwetter (Oded Shainin), Rachel Schonwetter (Dr. Cary Kraft), Jonathan Schonwetter, and great nephews and great niece Michael Shainin, Liam Shainin, Lev Shainin, Ari Kraft, Morrison Sussman and Royce Sussman.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Joyce and Morris Schonwetter College Outreach Fund at Congregation Kol Ami.
A graveside service will take place at 3pm on Friday, January 26th, at Gan Shalom Cemetery in Lutz, Florida.
