Amelia Lezcano

Amelia Lopez Lezcano, 89, passed away on Saturday, August 15th, 2020.  She was born to a large family (Lopez) in Candelaria, Pinar del Rio, Cuba in 1931.  One of sixteen children, her kind and caring nature was her greatest trait, as was her beauty.  Her faith was unwavering and she took solace in it all of her days.  She was truly beautiful inside and out and it radiated from her until her last day on this earth.   Arriving in the United States in 1967 with her own family, she made the best out of being in a new country where she didn’t know the language, yet worked steadfastly to find a better life here.  After a long day at work she would go home, where the seemingly simple act of cooking was a source of comfort and an expression of love for her family.  Her selflessness was a constant as she also helped care for her grandchildren years later.  Our hearts are heavy, but we will always carry her memory with us and her life will forever be a model of comportment, one that we will look to as we try to live and be more like her.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Roberto Lezcano, and is survived by her children, Robert (Isabel), Alina, who was her caregiver for many years, and Elaine;  her grandchildren, Sarai, Joshua, David, Lili, Stephanie, and Michelle; two great-grandchildren, Lilliana and Scarlett;  her siblings Sofia, Clara, Rafael, Catalina, Sara, Jose and Roberto; and many nieces and nephews.
