Adrianne Sundheim was born in 1935, grew up in Philadelphia, and was a beloved teacher of both teens and adults.
She studied at Beaver College (now Arcadia University), University of Cincinnati, and Hebrew University in Jerusalem. She designed Bible curricula, served on the faculty of various religious education workshops. Her poetry and articles were published in Reform Judaism & Lilith Magazine.
She Taught at Berger High School in Tampa, adult education classes at Ahavat Shalom in Palm Harbor, Schaarai Zedek and Beth Am in Tampa, and Beth Sholom in Winter Haven.
Adrianne was married to Rabbi Frank Sundheim, was the mother of three, grandmother of five boys, and great grandmother of three.
She served on and was later president of the Health System Agency of central Florida and later became the president of the Florida Health Council. For many years she was an unpaid lobbyist for health delivery services in both Tallahassee and Washington.
In 1971 she was appointed chairperson of the public school desegregation effort in Hillsborough County (elementary division) and appeared before the US Civil Rights Commission at their hearings.
She was truly a force of nature, a strong, independent woman, and a terrific parent, grandparent, and great grandparent.
A private graveside service will be held on Friday, February 28, followed by a memorial service at Congregation Schaarai Zedek at 11:30 AM. If you are unable to join in person, a live stream of the service will be available at https://www.zedek.org/streaming
